Holy Spring Water Tirta Empul.Tampaksiring.

Located in the village of Manukaya, Tampaksiring. Built-in 1957 by Indonesia first president (Ir. Soekarno). The Tirta Empul Holy water provides some of the most fascinating views you will ever see. The main uniqueness of this temple compared to other temples is the presence of natural springs in the temple area. The water is used for bathing, purifying oneself and asking Lord Indra for holy water.

The origin of the name Tampaksiring is said to have come from the word “visible” which also means the sole of the foot, and siring which means tilted. It is told as the palm of the ruling king, Mayadenawa. Mayadenawa is said to be a powerful king, has the power to disappear and change his form into various forms.

However, this king has an evil nature and thinks he is a god. Because of his evil nature, it is said that there was a priest named Sang Kul Putih, praying and pleading with the god Indra. to be willing to fight and eradicate Mayadenawa. And long story short, Dewa Indra sent his troops to fight against Mayadenawa. And finally Mayadenawa lost and entered the forest.

At night Mayadenawa entered the encampment of Dewa Indra’s troops so that they would not be known and leave no footprints, so Mayadenawa walked with slanted feet. So this is the origin of the name Tampaksiring. Mayadenawa placed poisoned water in the water bowl of Dewa Indra’s army and succeeded in weakening some of the troops.

Furthermore, to heal the troops from the effects of poisoned water from Mayadenawa, Lord Indra stuck his weapon into the ground, and a spring appeared and was able to heal the troops of Lord Indra. This spring is named Tirta Empul which means holy spring that emerges from the ground. Around this spring, a temple was finally built to worship Lord Indra. Mayadenawa finally found out that his strategy had failed so he ran into the forest and because he was tired he turned himself into a big stone. But Lord Indra knew that the stone was Mayadenawa. Dewa Indra killed him with an arrow, finally Mayadenawa was killed by God Indra. The murder of Mayadenawa is always commemorated by Hindus in Bali every 210 days with Galungan Day. The entrance ticket price is charged to visitors with the aim of maintaining and preserving the temple and must use polite clothes and traditional Balinese clothes. This spring has a shower with each function, and lots of local and foreign people who do cleaning, and self-purification in this tirta empul. And it is an honor for me personally to be asked to accompany a wonderful family and become a memory that will never be forgotten and we really respect differences, in every way but we really appreciate it. May God always give goodness to all of us.

Thank you so much Mr Taylor and family, I am so lucky to meet you and family.
